You won’t believe the stuff they put in the papers. Here are some examples that Stephen Mooser found:
THE MAN WHO ATE A CAR
Australian strongman, Leon Sampson, spent four years eating his way through a car in order to win a $19,200 bet. He ate the whole thing, the seats, the tires, the engine (minus the battery), the radio, the muffler, the whole thing! WhenLondon, England resident, Bryn Williams, who also bills himself as a strongman with a big appetite, heard the news, he quickly rose to the challenge. “I’ve always considered I could eat anything any man could eat – and twice as fast,” said Williams, who announced he was looking around for a used school bus to eat. For training, he was planning on chewing up a few tires.
School bus driver, Lillie Baltrip was on her way to a ceremony in Houston to pickup a safe driving award when she turned a corner too sharply and flipped the bus carrying 29 other school bus drivers. The driver and 16 passengers went to the hospital, but no one was seriously injured. The promoters of the safe driving contest said later that they would mail Ms. Baltrip her certificate.
SAUSAGES TRIP UP THIEF
A hungry thief grabbed some sausages, then found out they were part of a string 45 feet long. They tangled and tripped him, and police found their man collapsed in a twisted pile of fresh sausage.
